What is AstroPay?
AstroPay is a digital wallet with an app. You load money into it from a card or from the local bank methods of your country, keep balances in several currencies and pay from the balance: you pick AstroPay in the bookmaker’s cashier, confirm the payment in the wallet and the money leaves your account at once, so the bookmaker never sees your card or bank details. Bookmakers can pay withdrawals back into the same wallet, and from there you send the money to your bank.
Bettors knew it for years as the AstroPay Card, a prepaid product; the current terms still cover AstroPay Vouchers and the Android app keeps the package name astropaycard. Today it is a multicurrency wallet whose home market is still Latin America: the help centre has identity guides for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, then for Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria, and the exchange page quotes Argentine, Chilean, Colombian and Uruguayan pesos, reais and soles alongside dollars, euros, pounds and USDT.
For most countries the wallet is issued by AstroPay Global (IOM) Limited, licensed by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority for money transmission, which keeps customer money in safeguarding accounts apart from its own funds; there is no compensation scheme behind it. Brazil has its own payment institution, authorised by the Central Bank. The British and Danish companies of the group, Larstal Limited (authorised by the FCA, reference 901001) and Larstal Denmark ApS, have closed all their accounts: AstroPay announced in September 2026 that it is leaving the United Kingdom and the EEA.
How to open an AstroPay account
- Sign up in the app or at app.astropay.com. You give a phone number and an e-mail address and set a PIN; the one-time codes arrive by WhatsApp, SMS or e-mail. AstroPay accounts are for adults only.
- Verify your identity. Open Complete Profile, then Validate Your Identity, and send the requested documents and a face check. AstroPay says verification usually takes up to 48 hours, and until then part of the account is locked; a proof of address may be asked later.
- Load the wallet. A card top-up is instant and works in most countries; the fee depends on the country and the method and is shown before you confirm. Where AstroPay has a local method, the bank route is there too: PIX in Brazil, CVU in Argentina, SPEI in Mexico, Bre-B in Colombia, CCI in Peru, IBAN in euros at €2.50 a transfer.
- Watch the currency. The wallet holds several balances, but every exchange is done at the live rate plus a spread that AstroPay does not publish, and withdrawals to your bank leave in your local currency. Keep the balance in the currency you bet in.
- Pay the bookmaker. Choose AstroPay in the cashier and confirm in the wallet: the money is taken from the balance at once and AstroPay cannot reverse it, so a refund has to be asked from the bookmaker. Keep the transaction ID from the app in case the deposit does not show up.
What it costs
Between AstroPay and the bookmaker there is no published charge: AstroPay lists no fee for paying a merchant or for receiving a payout from one, and bookmakers normally add none. The costs sit inside the wallet, and most of them are not printed anywhere: AstroPay shows the fee in the app before you confirm each top-up, withdrawal or exchange, and it changes with the country and the method.
AstroPay wallet fees

Fees read on 19 October 2026 on the AstroPay help centre (intercom.help/astropay-hc) and in the Rest of the World user terms on astropay.com. AstroPay publishes no table of loading and withdrawal fees: each one depends on the country and the method and is shown in the app before you confirm. No figures are given for the British and Danish accounts, which were closed on 9 October 2026.
Two ways to pay less
Keep the balance in the currency you bet in: every exchange costs the spread shown in the app and cannot be undone once confirmed. And for euro IBAN transfers, where the €2.50 fee is flat, one larger transfer costs less than several small ones.
Deposit and withdrawal times
Deposits are instant: the money is taken from the wallet balance the moment you confirm, and a card top-up made just before is instant as well. Withdrawals depend on the bookmaker, which has to approve the payout before it sends it to AstroPay; count on anything from a few minutes to a few days, according to the operator and to whether your betting account is verified. Once sent, the payout appears in the wallet balance.
From the wallet to a bank account, AstroPay says withdrawals are usually processed within 72 business hours; to a bank in another country it quotes between a few minutes and 72 business hours, depending on the destination and the method. Verification of a new account takes up to 48 hours, and a transfer between two AstroPay users is instant.
Where you can use it
AstroPay is a Latin American wallet with licences in the Isle of Man, Brazil, Britain and Denmark, and where you can use it has just changed. These are the rules on 19 October 2026.
- United Kingdom and EEA. AstroPay is leaving both. All accounts held with Larstal Limited, its British company, and with Larstal Denmark ApS, the company that served the EEA, were closed on 9 October 2026; top-ups and incoming transfers were blocked from September, and a balance left behind costs £20 or €50 every 30 days until it is withdrawn. A bettor in London or Copenhagen has no AstroPay wallet to use any more.
- Brazil. The wallet is run by Astro Instituição de Pagamento Ltda, a payment institution authorised by the Central Bank. You load and withdraw by PIX.
- Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile. Local accounts and local transfer rails: CVU and CBU in Argentina, SPEI in Mexico, Bre-B in Colombia, CCI in Peru. The help centre has an identity guide for each of these countries.
- Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria. The only African countries with their own identity guide in the help centre; the wallet there runs under the Rest of the World terms.
- Everywhere else. The wallet is issued by AstroPay Global (IOM) Limited under the Rest of the World terms. Card top-ups work in most countries, but withdrawals can only go to the destinations listed in the app (PIX, CVU and CBU, SPEI, ACH to the United States, IBAN in euros), and the limits depend on your verification level and country.
- At the bookmaker. A bookmaker may refuse AstroPay for your country or your type of account even where the wallet works; AstroPay says so itself and sends you to the operator for any refund.
Deposits to a bookmaker are subject to AstroPay’s own transaction limits and to the bookmaker’s. AstroPay does not publish the amounts: the limit you see in the app is the one that counts.
AstroPay and welcome bonuses
Check the bonus terms first
Some bookmakers exclude e-wallets, AstroPay among them, from the first-deposit offer, or pay the bonus only on card and bank deposits. Read the payment clause of the bonus terms before you deposit; if AstroPay is excluded, make the first deposit another way and switch to the wallet from the second one.
AstroPay also runs cashback promotions of its own with some betting operators, listed on its terms page (Betwarrior, Fun88 and Coolbet among them). They come from AstroPay, not from the bookmaker, and have their own conditions.

Questions and answers
Is AstroPay free to use with bookmakers?
AstroPay lists no fee for paying a bookmaker or for receiving a payout from one, and bookmakers normally add none. What you pay is inside the wallet: a top-up fee that depends on your country and method, the spread on any currency exchange, and €2.50 for each euro IBAN transfer. The app shows each fee before you confirm.
How long does an AstroPay withdrawal from a bookmaker take?
As long as the bookmaker takes to approve it, from a few minutes to a few days. The payout then lands in the wallet balance, and moving it on to your bank is usually processed within 72 business hours, according to AstroPay.
Can I use AstroPay in the United Kingdom or in the EU?
No longer. AstroPay announced in September 2026 that it is leaving both markets: the accounts of Larstal Limited and Larstal Denmark ApS, its British and Danish companies, were closed on 9 October 2026, with top-ups blocked from September. If you still have money there, withdraw it: an idle balance costs £20 or €50 every 30 days.
Do AstroPay deposits count for the welcome bonus?
Not always. Bookmakers that exclude e-wallets from the first-deposit offer usually name AstroPay with the others. Read the payment clause of the terms, and if the wallet is excluded make the first deposit by card or bank transfer.
Is AstroPay safe?
For most countries the wallet is issued by AstroPay Global (IOM) Limited, licensed by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority, which keeps customer money in safeguarding accounts separate from its own funds. There is no compensation scheme behind it, as AstroPay says itself, and a deposit to a bookmaker cannot be reversed once confirmed. The bookmaker never sees your card or bank details.
