What is USDC?

USDC is a stablecoin: a token issued by Circle that is worth one US dollar and moves on public blockchains. You keep it in a crypto wallet or on an exchange, send it to the deposit address the bookmaker gives you, and receive winnings at an address of yours. Its price is designed to stay put: on 19 October 2026 Etherscan quoted it at $0.9998.

Circle backs every token with cash and short-dated US Treasuries. Most of the reserve sits in the Circle Reserve Fund, a government money market fund managed by BlackRock and held at Bank of New York Mellon; the rest is cash at banks. A Big Four accounting firm attests every month that the reserve is at least equal to the USDC in circulation, which Circle put at $72.5 billion on 15 October 2026. Circle commits to redeem 1 USDC for 1 USD, but only for institutions with a Circle Mint account; an individual sells USDC on an exchange instead.

USDC launched on 26 September 2018 as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and is now issued natively on 38 blockchains, among them Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon PoS, Avalanche and Stellar. Circle stopped minting it on Tron in February 2024, so a cashier that offers USDC on TRC-20 is offering a token the issuer no longer supports. Bookmaker lists also show “Bridged USDC (USDC.e)”: a copy created by a third-party bridge and backed by USDC locked in a contract on another chain, which Circle neither issues nor redeems. Prefer native USDC when the cashier gives you the choice.

How to get USDC

  1. Choose a wallet. Either a self-custody wallet, where you hold the keys and the responsibility, or an account at an exchange, which holds the tokens for you. Make sure it supports the network you will deposit on: a wallet set to the wrong network cannot see the tokens.
  2. Buy USDC on an exchange. You pay by bank transfer or card after verifying your identity. The exchange charges a trading fee on the purchase and, when you send the tokens out, a withdrawal fee that depends on the network. Both are on the exchange’s fee page, not on Circle’s.
  3. Pick the network in the cashier. The bookmaker shows one deposit address per network: Ethereum (ERC-20), Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base and so on. Send on the same network the address belongs to. Circle’s terms say USDC sent to an address that does not support it “will be lost forever”. If the cashier shows a memo or tag field, copy that too.
  4. Send a small test amount first. Once it shows up in the betting account, send the rest. From a self-custody wallet you also need a little of the network’s own coin, ETH on Ethereum or SOL on Solana, because the transfer fee is paid in that coin, not in USDC.
  5. Withdraw to an address of yours. Give the address of your wallet on a network the bookmaker offers, check the first and last characters, and wait for the bookmaker’s approval. The tokens arrive minutes after the transfer is broadcast.

What it costs

Four things can cost money: the bookmaker, the network, the exchange where you buy and sell, and the difference between the price you buy at and the price you sell at. With USDC the last one is close to zero, which is the reason bettors pick it over Bitcoin.

USDC costs for a bettor

OperationFee
Bookmaker depositUsually free; a few operators charge a percentage, check the cashier
Bookmaker withdrawalUsually free or the network fee only; check the cashier
Network fee on Ethereum (ERC-20)Paid in ETH: 0.041 gwei at 08:59 UTC on 19 October 2026, when Etherscan priced a swap at $0.036; a token transfer uses less gas than a swap
Network fee on BasePaid in ETH: $0.001 for a token transfer on 19 October 2026 (Basescan)
Network fee on ArbitrumPaid in ETH: $0.003 for a token transfer on 19 October 2026 (Arbiscan)
Network fee on SolanaPaid in SOL: 5,000 lamports (0.000005 SOL) per signature, plus an optional priority fee
Exchange trading feeA percentage of the purchase or sale, set by each exchange
Exchange withdrawal feeA fixed amount per network, set by each exchange
Exchange ratePegged to the US dollar: $0.9998 on Etherscan on 19 October 2026
Redemption with CircleCircle Mint accounts only: free up to $15 million a day, 0.1% above; the Basic tier is free at any volume and takes up to two business days

Figures read on 19 October 2026 on the gas trackers of etherscan.io, basescan.org and arbiscan.io, on solana.com (fee documentation) and on circle.com (redemption blog post, undated; the help-centre fee schedule did not load). Polygonscan could not be read that day, so no Polygon figure is given. Network fees move with demand: on Ethereum the same tracker showed 0.161 gwei later in the day, four times the morning reading.

Pick the cheap network

On 19 October 2026 a USDC transfer cost a tenth of a cent on Base and three tenths on Arbitrum, against up to a few cents on Ethereum, and a Solana signature costs 0.000005 SOL. If the bookmaker lists USDC on Base, Arbitrum, Polygon or Solana, use one of them and keep Ethereum for large amounts, where the fee does not matter. Whatever the network, buy and sell in one currency: converting the dollar winnings into euros or pounds at the exchange is where a stablecoin stops being free.

Deposit and withdrawal times

A deposit is credited once the network has confirmed the transfer the number of times the bookmaker requires. Ethereum produces a block every twelve seconds, so a deposit that needs a dozen confirmations takes a few minutes; Solana has run 200-millisecond slots since 9 October 2026, and Basescan and Arbiscan estimated confirmation in under twenty seconds on 19 October 2026. Until the count is reached the cashier shows the deposit as pending, which means the transfer has been broadcast and is waiting for blocks, not that anything has gone wrong. Count on under fifteen minutes on any network, and seconds on the fast ones.

Withdrawals wait for the bookmaker’s approval, from minutes to a day or two depending on the operator and on whether your betting account is verified. Once the bookmaker broadcasts the transfer, the tokens reach your address within minutes. There is no bank at the end of the chain, so the days a card refund or a bank transfer adds do not exist here.

Where you can use it

Circle says USDC is used in more than 185 countries; what changes by country is whether a bookmaker may take it and whether the issuer serves the country. Three rules matter.

Which licence a bookmaker holds, and from which countries it accepts players, is in its Betandlink review. Read it before you deposit.

USDC and welcome bonuses

Check the bonus terms first

Crypto bookmakers often run a separate welcome offer for deposits in stablecoins, paid in USDT or USDC rather than in euros. Read whether a USDC deposit qualifies, on which networks, the minimum deposit, the wagering requirement and the maximum bet while the bonus is active. A bonus in USDC keeps its dollar value while you wager it, which a bonus in Bitcoin does not.

Questions and answers

What is the difference between USDC and USDT?

Both are tokens pegged to the US dollar, but they have different issuers: USDC is issued by Circle, a US company with a money market fund reserve and monthly attestations, USDT by Tether. Bookmakers list them as separate methods with separate deposit addresses. USDC is no longer minted on Tron, so on TRC-20 you will usually find USDT only.

What is “Bridged USDC (USDC.e)” in the cashier?

A copy of USDC created by a third-party bridge on a chain where Circle had not issued the token natively. It is backed by USDC locked in a contract on another blockchain, not by Circle, and Circle neither issues nor redeems it. Choose the plain USDC option when both are offered.

How long does a USDC deposit take?

As long as the network needs to confirm the transfer the number of times the bookmaker asks for: a few minutes on Ethereum, which produces a block every twelve seconds, and seconds on Solana, Base or Arbitrum. The cashier shows the deposit as pending until then. Count on less than fifteen minutes.

Which network should I use for USDC?

The one the bookmaker offers with the lowest fee, as long as your wallet or exchange supports it too. On 19 October 2026 a token transfer cost $0.001 on Base and $0.003 on Arbitrum, while Ethereum fees depend on gas and are paid in ETH. Sending on a network the address does not belong to loses the tokens.

Can USDC lose its value?

Its price is designed to stay at one dollar and Circle keeps a reserve of cash and short-dated US Treasuries that a Big Four firm attests every month; on 19 October 2026 Etherscan quoted $0.9998. It is not a bank deposit, though: Circle’s terms say USDC is not covered by deposit insurance, and only Circle Mint account holders can redeem it with Circle directly.
