Bookmakers Neteller

Neteller was moving billions in gambling payments before it left the United States in 2007, and since 2015 it has belonged to Paysafe, the group that also owns Skrill. Here is what it costs, how fast it pays out, where it works and which bookmakers take it: 47 of the 65 reviewed on Betandlink.

What is Neteller?

Neteller is a digital wallet. You load money into it from a card, a bank account or a Paysafecard voucher and pay the bookmaker from the balance, so the operator only sees the e-mail address of the wallet. Withdrawals come back the same way, into the wallet, and from there you move them to your bank account or to a card when you want.

In January 2007 the United States charged its two founders with laundering online gambling proceeds and Neteller left the American market, where it had processed more than $10 billion of gambling payments; in July it agreed to forfeit $136 million and to return about $94 million to US customers. The listed parent, Neteller plc, became Neovia Financial in 2008 and Optimal Payments in 2011; in 2015 it bought Skrill and took the Paysafe name, and in 2017 the group was bought by CVC and Blackstone and delisted.

Today the wallet is run by Paysafe Financial Services Limited, authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution (reference 900015); customers in the European Economic Area are served by Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited, another company of the group. Bettors use it for the same reasons as Skrill: the bookmaker only needs the e-mail address of the wallet, payouts from betting sites reach the wallet at once and cost nothing on Neteller’s side, and one wallet serves every bookmaker you play at.

How to open a Neteller account

  1. Sign up on neteller.com or in the app. You need an e-mail address, your name, address and date of birth. The terms require members to be at least 18.
  2. Choose the account currency with care. Pick the currency you use at your bookmakers: every transaction in another currency pays the conversion fee, 4.49% on the fee page and “up to 4.49%, depending on your country of residence” in the help centre.
  3. Verify your identity. Neteller photographs your ID in the app or by webcam, with a selfie, and asks for a proof of address as you approach the higher limits; it may later ask for a photo of you holding the ID or for a card or bank statement. Limits rise automatically after the ID check and are shown under Settings › Verification & features.
  4. Load the wallet. A local bank deposit costs 0–1%; an international bank transfer, a Visa or Mastercard, Rapid Transfer and Trustly cost 2.5%; Paysafecard up to 5%. Card loads appear at once, bank transfers take one or two working days, up to five in some countries.
  5. Pay the bookmaker. Choose Neteller in the cashier, type the e-mail of your wallet and confirm the payment on the Neteller page. The money is on your betting account at once.

What it costs

Between Neteller and the bookmaker the service is free in both directions: the fee page lists payments to merchants as free and withdrawals from merchant sites at 0%, and most bookmakers add no fee of their own. The costs are in the wallet itself, and on the main items they are higher than Skrill’s.

Fees read on 19 October 2026 on the fee page of neteller.com, which does not split the figures by country and quotes fixed amounts in US dollars; the help centre adds that the conversion fee is “up to 4.49%, depending on your country of residence”. The Net+ card fees come from the help centre article on the card. The exact fee for your country is shown under Money in and Money out before you confirm a transaction.

How to pay less

Load the wallet by local bank deposit instead of by card, and keep the account in the currency of your bookmakers: a bettor who loads €1,000 by card and plays in dollars pays €25 to load and about €45 to convert before placing a single bet. The bank withdrawal fee is a flat $10, so take the money out in a few large sums rather than many small ones.

Deposit and withdrawal times

Deposits are instant: a card load appears in the wallet at once (Neteller allows up to 20 minutes in case of a technical fault) and the payment to the bookmaker is credited immediately. Withdrawals take as long as the bookmaker needs to approve them, from a few minutes to two or three days depending on the operator and on whether your betting account is verified; once approved, the money reaches the wallet at once. In Neteller’s words, transfers from most merchant sites take no time at all.

From Neteller to your bank account the transfer takes from one to five business days and cannot be cancelled once started; to a Visa card it takes up to three business days and works only if the card issuer supports Visa payouts (OCT). Bank withdrawals go only to an account in your own name.

Where you can use it

Neteller says it serves every country listed on its registration form, through two companies of the Paysafe group: Paysafe Financial Services Limited in the United Kingdom and Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited for the European Economic Area. Whether you can use the wallet for betting then depends on the law of your country and on the bookmaker’s licence. Three rules matter for many readers.

Elsewhere, some card issuers treat a wallet load used for gambling as a cash advance and charge their own fee. It does not go to Neteller, but you pay it.

Neteller and welcome bonuses

Check the bonus terms first

Many bookmakers, especially those licensed in the United Kingdom, exclude first deposits made with Neteller and Skrill from their welcome offer. If the offer terms list Neteller among the excluded methods, make the first deposit by card or bank transfer and use Neteller from the second one.

Questions and answers

Is Neteller free to use with bookmakers?

Paying a bookmaker from the wallet is free, receiving a withdrawal from a bookmaker is free, and most bookmakers add no fee. You pay when you load the wallet by card (2.5%), when you withdraw to your bank ($10 per transfer) and whenever a transaction changes currency (4.49%).

How long does a Neteller withdrawal from a bookmaker take?

As long as the bookmaker takes to approve it, usually from a few minutes to a couple of days. Once approved, the money is in the wallet immediately. Moving it from Neteller to a bank account then takes one to five business days, to a Visa card up to three.

Can I fund Neteller with a credit card to bet?

In the United Kingdom and Australia no: credit cards cannot be used for online gambling, even through a wallet, and Neteller asks at every card load whether the money is for gambling. Elsewhere it depends on your card issuer, which may charge a cash-advance fee on the load.

Do Neteller deposits count for the welcome bonus?

Not always. Several bookmakers exclude Neteller, Skrill and other e-wallets from the first-deposit offer. Read the payment clause of the bonus terms before you deposit.

Is Neteller safe?

Neteller is run by Paysafe Financial Services Limited, authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution (reference 900015), and in the European Economic Area by Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited. The bookmaker never sees your card or bank details, and withdrawals from the wallet go only to a bank account in your own name.
